Reviews

The Pilot designers have done a superb job of isolating the passenger compartment from engine, road and wind noise, to the point where it's easy to carry on a normal conversation at extra-legal speeds even on a windy day.
One Liner
Honda has a reputation as an innovator, but it's not a bad follower, either.
New Car Test DriveComparison
More power can be found in domestic SUV offerings (Ford Explorer V8, GMC Envoy, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 and Dodge Durango), but all are thirstier at the gas pump.
Least Liked
Alas, the column-mounted transmission shifter is a bit fussy when selecting driving modes, but owners will likely become quickly acclimated to it.
Most Liked
Because of the Pilot's wide stance, there's sufficient clearance between the wheelwells to place 4-foot-wide items, such as sheets of plywood, flat on the floor.
The Car ConnectionLeast Liked
The middle seats are comfortable for adults, but the third-row seats are strictly for young children or short trips.
Most Liked
The Honda Pilot packs an amazingly large amount of interior room into its small overall package.
Model ReviewsComparison
For those who intend to tow, the SUV can pull a 3500-pound trailer, 4500 pounds of boat. That's not best in class -- Ford's Explorer pulls 5550 lbs -- but quite functional.

This is a sweet V-6 whose VTEC variable valve timing system works elegantly, and itâ??s wed to a delectable and poised five-speed automatic.
The Honda Pilot is a powerful crossover SUV, engineered for quality and durability, as well as high levels of functionality and comfort. It features unit body construction and a fully independent suspension, providing a more car-like driving experience with crisp, predictable handling and a smooth ride. The 8-passenger Pilot is available in both front- and four-wheel drive configurations and four trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L and Touring. All trim levels feature an advanced 250-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. The Pilot delivers impressive fuel economy through Honda?s Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology, an engine cylinder-deactivation system that is capable of operating in either 6-cylinder mode for power or 4- and 3-cylinder modes for efficiency. Standard equipment on the LX includes a lift-up glass hatch, CD player, front and rear air conditioning, cruise control and three rows of seating; EX trims add 17-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 6-disc CD changer and satellite radio, while EX-L trims are further outfitted with a power moonroof, heated front seats, leather upholstery and a rearview camera parking aid. The Touring trim gets exclusive premium features that include a power liftgate, an upgraded sound system with USB audio interface, Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a voice-activated navigation system. A rear DVD entertainment system is optional on EX-L and Touring trims. Safety features found on every Pilot include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with traction control, front side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags for all three rows and active anti-whiplash front head restraints.Following an extensive redesign last year, the Honda Pilot carries over unchanged for 2010.
