What is the Lane Keeping Assist System?
The Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) is designed to alert you when your vehicle begins to drift from its lane. As part of the Honda Sensing® suite of driver assist features, LKAS can help keep you safe on Culver City streets as well as out on the 405. Learn more about how Lane Keeping Assist works in new Honda vehicles, and then stop by Airport Marina Honda in Los Angeles to see this innovative technology in action today!
How Does Lane Keep Assist Work?
The Honda Lane Keeping Assist System features a sensor camera that is mounted behind the rearview mirror. The camera scans road markings and relays visual and tactile alerts to notify you if your vehicle starts to drift from its lane without signaling. As soon as the vehicle begins to drift, a warning appears in the multi-information display, and the steering wheel will vibrate to alert you. The Lane Keeping Assist System can also automatically provide corrective steering to help keep the car securely in the detected lane.
Can I Turn Lane Keep Assist Off?
You can deactivate the Lane Keeping Assist System at any time. Here’s how:
- Press the MAIN button on the steering wheel until you see LKAS on the multi-information display.
- Press LKAS.
- You’ll see lane outlines on the display (dotted lines turn solid when the system is ready).
- Press the MAIN or LKAS button to turn off the system.
